Deleting a chat in the ChatGPT mobile app

On an iPhone or Android phone, start inside the ChatGPT app. Find the conversation in your history and look for its menu or the available swipe/press gesture. Choose Delete only after checking that it is the right chat. The controls can move between app versions.

Deleting chats on desktop

On the ChatGPT website, find a conversation in the sidebar, open its options menu and select Delete. For an account-wide reset, review Settings and Data Controls before using Delete all chats.

If you switch between phone and desktop, remember that deleting a conversation from your account is different from removing a local browser tab. Check which account you are signed into before taking an irreversible action.

Can I use a Chrome extension on iPhone or Android?

Chrome on a phone is not simply desktop Chrome squeezed onto a smaller screen. Extensions made for desktop Chrome generally are not available in mobile Chrome or inside the native ChatGPT app. If you only use a phone, start with ChatGPT’s built-in controls.
